Florin


Federation (1951)

1951 marks the Jubilee of Federation and to commemorate this, the third commemorative florin was struck, dubbed the Jubilee Florin, features a sword crossing a mace on the reverse, with a crown above and the Southern Cross within. On either side of the design are the dates, 1901 and 1951 and 'AUSTRALIA' and 'FLORIN' at the top and bottom parts of the legend.

Two million business strike Federation florins were produced in 1951 at the Melbourne mint (Learn more about the 1951 Jubilee Florin). Four patterns were struck in Cupro-nickel at the Royal mint London (Learn more about the 1951 Cupro-Nickel Jubilee Florin) along with one defaced piece (Learn more about the 1951 Cupro-Nickel Jubilee (obv tooled) Florin).
