1953 Threepence

The 1953 Threepence is the first coin in a two-coin series that started with the coronation of Elizabeth II. While the date is the easier of the two, it is by no means common, especially if sought in the higher mint state grades. While being the first date in the series, the coin is usually struck from problem-free dies which allows for higher mint state grades, very few examples have survived with no significant hoards surfacing.

The Melbourne mint also produced a specimen strike in 1953 - Learn more about the 1953 Specimen Threepence
