1852 Restrike (1971) Adelaide Five Pound

In 1971, restrikes of all known types were produced at the Royal Australian Mint though quantities are given as totals for reverse and obverse strikes indicating uniface strikes and while uniface restrikes are known, at least one double-sided Adelaide Pound Type II was produced.

Both the Royal mint Melbourne and Royal Australian Mint restrikes can be identified by a rose-gold colour as these were either struck in gilt copper or a gold-copper alloy, while in 1852 the Adelaide Assay Office had used Victorian gold, which was rich in silver producing a brighter yellow coloured gold.
