1893-M Half Sovereign



The rarest circulating half sovereign, the 1893 Melbourne is known by only 5 examples. Two reside in the Royal Australian Mint museum and the other three in private hands. One of the three examples has reverse graffiti, 'AM', selling for $6,990 in March 2002 and was latered offered in 2005 where it realized over $60,000. Another example sold for a similar price at the Reserve Bank sale.
