1855 Half Sovereign

The 1855 is one of the key Australian rarities with considerable Australian and international demand. It is estimated that 50 to 60 examples are known with most being heavily worn. The coin is known right up to AU, however less than 5 examples are known above XF. A total of 7 examples were found in the Reserve Bank holdings (Downies, 2005), auctioned off in 2005 with very few examples appearing on the market since then.
