1856/5 Overdate Half Sovereign

While not entirely a new find, as the type was prior catalogued as the large '6' variety, the 1856/5 overdate half sovereign bears identical detail alignment with the 1855 (Learn more about the 1855 Half Sovereign), and exhibits an enlarged or fat 6, which completely covers the former position of the second 5 in the date. This enlarged '6' occurs in roughly 5% of 1856 half sovereigns (Learn more about the 1856 Half Sovereign) and considering the abundance of the 1856 half sovereign, it would indicate a survival count of almost 100 pieces though considering the lack of awareness of the overdate or large '6' variety, most of these would have gone un-noticed.
