1964-Y Proof Penny

The Perth mint, along with the Melbourne mint ceased the production of commercial proofs in 1963 but the Perth mint, produced proof of record strikes for 1964, as they did with every other year they struck Australian commonwealth coins (including those years where commercial proofs were produced from 1955 to 1963).

Only one pair of the half penny (Learn more about the 1964-Y Proof Half Penny) and penny is known, both coins, slightly impaired were offered at a Spink & Son sale in 1987 with the pair selling for $7200 (Coin Web, 2007).
