The 1936 florin is probably the most common florin to find in all grades from Fine to mint state . Being the last year of George V, pieces suffered the least circulation of any George V florin with most being hoarded by the time Australia's currency was debase d in 1946 leaving only 10 years of circulation. Consequently, average circulated pieces range from F to VF, much higher than any other George V florin. In addition, several mint rolls of 1936 florins surfaced in the late 20th century rendering the coin relatively common in mint state. For that reason it is the common choice for type set collectors looking to fill their George V florin gap with a mint state coin, a gap which would ordinarily cost many thousands of dollars to fill if not for the 1931 and the 1936. Typical examples from mint rolls grade MS63 with a few premium examples making MS64. Finding examples at MS65 or higher can be a real challenge as while obtaining well struck examples is easy, finding examples free of surface imperfections can be near impossible.
