Sales History

?

The Type I one dollar coin was only issued for a single year in 1984. It featured the Arnold Machin portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse with Stuart Devlin's now iconic 'Mob of Roos' design on the reverse. The coin was issued to replace the one dollar note that had been used since the introduction of decimal currency. Due to the extremely large number of dollarnotes being withdrawn the mintage of the 1984 dollar coin was extremely high. A total of more than 186 million type I dollar coins were issued into circulation.
